Races[]
Characters have a race which gives them certain bonuses and penalties as well as some races granting a special ability or trait. Until your 2nd retirement, you are stuck with Human as the only choice, which does not alter your character's traits at all. Once you reach your third retirement, a random race is assigned to you when you start a new run. You can see your race in the Archetype tab.

No bonuses or penalties or special abilities.
Elf[]
+15% Air, -10% Earth, resting takes 20% less food.
Gnome[]
+15% Luck, -10% Fire, 50% chance to disarm traps automatically.
Golem[]
+15% Earth, -10% Air, immune to critical hits.
Orc[]
+15% Fire, -10% Air, critical hits deal x3 damage instead of x2.
Vampire[]
+15% Air, -10% Luck, 50% chance to heal 1 wound after defeating an enemy.
Troll[]
+15% Water, -10% Luck, 15% chance to heal 1 wound when exploring.
Goblin[]
+10% Luck, +10% Air.
Dwarf[]
+10% Earth, +10% Luck.
Imp[]
+10% Fire, +10% Air.
Sprite[]
+20% Luck.
